Terms of service policy

Please read the following conditions carefully before continuing to book:

1. Happy Humber Hounds is a licensed home-based pet business in the city of Toronto. All services are provided solely by me (Charlene Fisher-Sousa) and I am insured by Zensurance. Before booking any service with Happy Humber Hounds the pet owner acknowledges that they understand the risks involved and are voluntarily proceeding with the booking process. The owner therefore agrees to waive their right to make any legal claim against Happy Humber Hounds for any damages, injuries, or losses that may occur during a booked service. Prior to releasing any pet(s) into my care the owner agrees to provide all necessary information regarding their pet(s) and/or property in writing (written note, text message, email, etc.) Pet owner is also able to provide valid proof of up-to-date vaccinations and flea/tick prevention for any pet(s) being placed into my care.

2. Pet owner agrees to render full payment to Happy Humber Hounds for any services booked. Payment is accepted in the form of cash or e-transfer and will be subject to HST. If the owner fails to make payment within 72 hours of a service ending they will no longer be permitted to book any future services with Happy Humber Hounds.

3. Safety, reliability and attentiveness are always at the forefront of my care, I take preventative measures very seriously. Meet and greets are always completed to ensure that all pet(s) involved are a good fit. However, if significant injury or illness were to occur and the pet owner/emergency contact are unreachable the pet owner hereby authorizes Happy Humber Hounds to seek immediate veterinary care if absolutely necessary. The pet owner also agrees to be held responsible for any medical expenses incurred, except for those due to negligence or misconduct on behalf of Happy Humber Hounds.

4. Pet owner understands that they will be held responsible for any harm, injury or damages caused by their pet(s) to another person, pet, or property.

5. Pet owner will need to provide all items needed for their pet (food, harness, crate, etc.) If additional items are needed the pet owner agrees to reimburse Happy Humber Hounds in full. Walking equipment provided by the owner must be secure and non-slip. If equipment is found to be unsafe or faulty, Happy Humber Hounds may need to cancel, reschedule or postpone walks until new and safe equipment is provided by the pet owner. In the event of an escape or loss of a pet in my care I will do everything possible to get them back to safety. If the pet(s) cannot be located or serious injury/death occurs, the owner will be contacted immediately.

6. Please provide a minimum of 12 hours notice for rescheduling, cancellation, or extension of a service. If insufficient notice is given, the pet owner acknowledges that a cancellation fee of 50-100% of the service price may be charged. In the case of severe weather or sudden illness this fee will be waived. If a service is cancelled by Happy Humber Hounds the owner will be refunded in full or offered a credit for future use. Payment will not be refunded in the case that a service is cancelled by the owner while it has already begun.

7. Pet owner consents to entry of their property by Happy Humber Hounds at the scheduled service time(s). Any physical keys will be returned to the pet owner when the service is completed, or held onto for safe keeping if needed for reoccurring bookings. Happy Humber Hounds will follow all instructions in regard to entering and leaving the pet owner’s property and any personal information given such as access codes will be kept private.

8. Booking times may vary up to 15 minutes before or after the scheduled time. If a longer delay is foreseen Happy Humber Hounds will contact the pet owner to confirm.

9. In regard to daycare and boarding services the pet owner agrees to drop off and pick up their pet at the scheduled time. Boarding rates are based on a 24 hour schedule, additional fees will apply if pickup time is more than 4 hours past the original drop off time. Pet owner acknowledges that if they fail to pick up their pet and cannot be contacted or located within 72 hours, Happy Humber Hounds may proceed to contact animal services or the Humane Society to takeover their care. If a pet is handed over to one of these institutions Happy Humber Hounds will no longer be held responsible for their well being.
